The Eye of the Warlock By P. W. Catanese is a book about the sequel or a universe after the ones of the common fairy tale Hansel and Gretel. This book centers around the main character Rudi, who lives in the house of Hansel and Gretel. He lives with two girls, who’s names are Lucie and Elsebeth, and his Uncle and Aunt. He’s aunt is very cruel while his uncle, is nice but weak. He felt like he lived a boring and hard life, so when a stranger asked Rudi to find Hansel and Gretel’s treasure, he agrees and takes Lucie and Elsebeth with him. However things go very wrong, as evil enter the forest that they lived in. Elsebeth and Lucie get held hostage by a warlock and will only give them up for Hansel. Will Rudi save the girls? I would recommend with book to anyone that likes fantasy, adventure, and old folk/fairy tails. I felt that the plot was good and it was a relative easy read and the action had a very fast pace. It was a good book overall, however the characters were very mysterious and strange. They’re were may parts that were interesting and fun about the book, however in the end I felt that I wanted more from the author. ~Jason W. (per. 3)
