11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass

11 Birthdays is about a girl named Amanda who is turning 11, but she has to relive her birthday over and over again. She can’t figure out why her birthday never ends, but she will do anything to stop it from happening again. Amanda spends each day a little differently, hoping that one day it might stop repeating. Throughout her journey, she makes new friends, starts over with old ones, gets into a lot of trouble, and discovers her true passions. 11 Birthdays is a very relatable book because the main characters are very real. It took me back to the time when I was 11 and made me remember all the memories I had just like Amanda. I remember all the feelings I had when I was going to turn 11 and be in middle school. Overall, it was a great, fun book to read. I recommend it because it is fun to read and it is very interesting. ~Sreya A. (per. 7/8)

  1. This seems like a really unique and interesting book with wendy mass turning something that should be a special day to a dreaded day that the character would do anything to stop. Then, this horror turns into a learning experience. Again, this book has a very cool idea and would be something I would read.

  2. This seems like a book that I would enjoy. I like being able to relate myself to a character in a book, and everyone can relate to a book about birthdays. It seems a lot like the movie Groundhogs Day. I hope to read this book sometime in the future.

  3. This is a really interesting book considering that everyone in the world would love to repeate a day in their life where they can change the bad things they've done. This book kind of makes it sound bad that someone is repeating their birthday over and over again. If that was me I would love to repeat my life all over again to change the things I could have done differently. I want to read this book to find out why she hates repeating her day over and over again.

  6. This seems very ominous with the constant deja vu of her birthday. I would like to read this book and learn about what has made her birthday repetitive and what she does to try to prevent her birthday from repeating itself over and over. This is a book I plan on reading over the summer. ~Vincent C. Period 2

  7. This book seems very interesting. I love my birthday! Everyone treats me so special, and it's just a wonderful day. It is so ironic that a day like a birthday would be dreaded. However, I understand where Amanda is coming from. If any day was repeated over and over again, I would probably go insane! I would love to see how Amanda deals with the constant "birthday treatment" and how she tries to prevent the day from repeating again.

  8. This book seems really fun to read. I love to be able to relate to someone and see other people's thoughts and opinions. Also, I agree with Neven about repeating your life to fix the mistakes. I wonder why Amanda wouldn't enjoy that. Hopefully, I get to read this book and find out.

  9. This book sounds so good! I wonder why her birthday kept repeating. I have never read a Wendy Mass book before, but ever since she talked to us I have wanted to check one out. I definitely want to read this to see what kind of trouble Amanda gets into. Kristen Connolly (period 3)

  10. She came to our school, and ever since, I've wanted to read one of her books. I never knew which one, but after reading this, this book sounds like it has. I miss being 11 too, maybe I can relate my feelings from then to this book too!

  11. This reminds me so much of the book Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, which is about a girl named Sam who has to relive valentine's day for a week. Each day she does something differently to try and stop her days from repeating, as well as reach a different outcome just as in this book. This was also a good book and if you enjoyed this one, I would definitely recommend Before I fall as well. --Amanda Evans Period 4
