Hatchet by Gary Paulsen

This book is about a boy who goes to visit his father in canada but then his plane crashes because the pilot goes into cardiac arrest. The plane goes crashing down and then he swims in the lake that his plane went down in and he finds a lot of stuff. He finds spoiled food, a broken radio and a hatchet. His parents are divorced his mom lives in the US and his dad lives in canada so he has to take a plane to see them. He faces bears, wolves, and moose. Gary Paulsen has wrote many books and has wrote a sequel to hatchet called "The River." He is one of my all time favorite authors. I eould recomend this book to people who like adventure books because it is a very exciting book to read.

  1. I've read this book and It's really good. IT shows how a young boy has to struggle to struggle to survive in the wild, with no food, water, or communication with the outside world. its a very suspenseful book and the way he solves problems is really smart too.

  2. I remember reading this book. This book actually has an influence on people in their daily life because it shows how perseverance will lead to success. I remember that Brian had to use brains as well as brawn to overcome his challenges.

  3. This was one of my favorite books, recommended by my older brother when I was in elementary school. I found it very cool how he could survive for so long in the wild with just a hatchet. He made shelter, clothes, and a means of getting food by himself!

  4. I have never read a book by this author. I used to watch a show called Lost that was about a plane crash and I loved it, however the show ended. This sounds like a great book, especially because I love action and adventure. I would definitely consider this as my summer reading book.

  6. I had really enjoyed this book when I had read it. Mainly because a teenager is left out alone in the wild. Which had added a surviving sense to the book.

  7. I heard about the movie but i haven't watched it nor read the book. from your description it sounds really interesting however. reading about survival in wherever he landed with highly inadequate supplies. sounds like a fun read.

  8. This book was such an interesting book. I'm usually not a big fan of this "going out and survive in the wild" types of genres. However, I absolutely fell in love with this book and I went out and read other books by Gary Paulsen. This book makes us realize that we should appreciate all the things that we have

  10. I loved this book. It was interesting to see how someone would think when they're alone, cold, and have no idea what to do, then to adapt to what happened to them.
