Dune by Frank Herbert
In a future world, Paul Atreides and his family, under order of the Emperor, have been relocated to the planet, Arrakis or Dune. There Paul's father, the Duke, must manage the planet's resources and people. However the Duke's enemies, the Harkonnen family, have their own plans for the planet and its resources, and a plot to kill the Duke soon emerges. While Paul must learn to manage the problems and threats his father faces, he soon discovers his own destiny that awaits him on this new planet. This book is to the science fiction genre what Lord of the Rings is to the fantasy genre (only this one's much more interesting to read). It has intrigue, action, mystery and a classic hero's journey plot. If you like science fiction, adventure or hero stories, be sure to check this out!

although i don`t like action or science fiction books, this seems to have a unique idea to it. i really like these future books that show another way of how the future might turn out to be.

The plot sounds interesting. Is Dune another name for Arrakis?

ReplyDeleteWow! I usually am not interested in the science fiction genre, I'm more of a fantasy person (but I agree about Lord of the Rings), but this book is definetely something I want to get my hands on. I am a little curious about the Emperor. Does he have a big role in the book?

Youre right. Its like a Lord of The Rings novel with a "Space" twist to it.

Paul's father seems like he has a tough life. He has to take care of an entire planet with the thought that he might be killed by his enemies. By the way that the story seems to be written, it does sound like a true hero's journey.
