Lone Wolf by Jodi Piccoult
Jodi Piccoult is my absolute favorite non-series author. All of her books involve court, yet none of them are boring court case novels. Lone Wolf depicts a man named Luke Warren, who lived with wolves and also was the father of Cara Warren. Luke and Cara had been in a car crash, because of some reason that is first kept hidden from readers. Cara and her long-lost-brother have a say in continuing Luke's life support. To prolongue a life, or to let a wild man die with dignity? That is the question two young adults must answer. Filled with secrecy and teenage tenacity, Jodi Piccoult's newest novel is as riveting as any of her others! ~ Emily P. per.3
Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card

Divergent by Veronica Roth
In this society, everyone dedicates their life to the refinement of one virtue of a specific faction at age 16. Beatrice is given the choice of staying with her family but feeling unsettled about her decision, or being true to herself and joining another faction. While deciding between the two, a rare but life-changing factor is discovered that she doesn’t quite understand herself. Still, she tries to hide her secret at her chosen faction while redefining herself as Tris and surviving the grueling initiation of psychological and physical tests of endurance that break people down, kill them, or leave them forever altered. As the story progresses, secrets are uncovered, loyalties are questioned, and chaos erupts but Beatrice/Tris' inner strength pulls her through and makes her a wonderful heroine. I would recommend this to anyone in our grade because it’s an enthralling, unpredictable thriller that calls into question our virtues, our priorities, and what kind of person we truly are. ~Chynelle M, Period 7/8

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
A fun-filled adventure in which Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are sent to play the Hunger Games, in which they are to overcome many obstacles to be the last one surviving out of 24 total competitors. Will they come out of the maze alive or will darkness foreshadow their deaths? I would recommend this book to anyone of any ages who loves adventure and suspense. This book is filled with tons of adventurous and suspenseful events, along with some gory deaths. If you like adventure or suspense, check this book out! ~Suchir K. per. 7/8

Dune by Frank Herbert
In a future world, Paul Atreides and his family, under order of the Emperor, have been relocated to the planet, Arrakis or Dune. There Paul's father, the Duke, must manage the planet's resources and people. However the Duke's enemies, the Harkonnen family, have their own plans for the planet and its resources, and a plot to kill the Duke soon emerges. While Paul must learn to manage the problems and threats his father faces, he soon discovers his own destiny that awaits him on this new planet. This book is to the science fiction genre what Lord of the Rings is to the fantasy genre (only this one's much more interesting to read). It has intrigue, action, mystery and a classic hero's journey plot. If you like science fiction, adventure or hero stories, be sure to check this out!
